The Blokadnitsy Project, an exhibition by photographer Jill Bough, is a compilation of black and white portraits of women survivors of the Siege of Leningrad, as well as hand-made art books revealing memories and artifacts of their lives. Based on material gathered through interviews with the women in their homes, the work brings forth ideas about the relationship between memory and history, artifacts as symbolism, and the experience of encounters as art itself.

Jill Bough is a fine art portrait photographer who focuses on disappearing Russian themes. Also on exhibit will be pieces from Bough's previous Russia projects: The Russian Heart, Scenes from a Village, and Working Women as Soviet Realism.

Sponsored by the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. For more information, please call 617-495-4037.
